About the Workshop
Google Earth Engine puts petabytes of satellite imagery at your fingertips, free for research use, right in your browser. Learn from Dr. Bharati Paul of the Air Quality Research Center, UC Davis, and spend two full hours coding in Earth Engine: preprocessing big geospatial data, building a land-use map with machine learning, and analysing satellite-derived air quality.

- Log in with your Google account
- Open code.earthengine.google.com
- Explore the script editor and console
- reduceRegion and reduceToVectors
- Spatial / temporal filters and cloud masking
- Resampling and reprojection
- Export results to Google Drive
- Overlay multiple datasets for integrated analysis
- LULC datasets and classification workflow
- Load Landsat / Sentinel imagery
- Supervised classification with training samples
- Random Forest classifier for an LULC map
- Access MODIS Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD)
- Calculate AOD statistics
Complete these steps at least 3 days before the workshop:
- Have an active Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace).
- Register for Google Earth Engine non-commercial / research access and create or link a Google Cloud project via code.earthengine.google.com. Approval can take time.
- Confirm you can open code.earthengine.google.com.
- Bring a laptop with an up-to-date Chrome browser and stable internet.
